Care instructions

ecocan contains coconut fiber granulate, clay granulate and a plant seed packet.

  • Open the can. Use the lid as a coaster. Open the seed packet and carefully remove any stringy orange tufts attached to them with a clean knife. Put seeds in a glass with luke warm water.
  • After 48 hours remove seeds from water and plant the seeds 1-2 cm (1/2 to 1 inch) deep and a few centimetres/several inches apart. Carefully pour about 60 ml water in the pot. After 5 minutes, peel off the sticker on the bottom of the can to drain any excess water.
  • Place the ecocan in a bright and warm place and water moderately until plants are germinating (approx. 40 ml about bevery 3 days). Make sure that the granulate doesn't dry up – avoid waterlogging!
  • Bird-of-paradise flower seeds are slow to germinate, taking up to 8 weeks to germinate. Continue to water moderately.
  • It will take at least 4-6 years for the plant to start blooming.
  • After 12 months of growth, remove the sleeve from the can and repot your plant by simply placing the entire ecocan into a flower pot with soil. The container will slowly decompose and turn into a valuable fertilizer for the plant.
